Christmas Markets: Schönbrunn Castle In Vienna.

Christmas Markets: Schönbrunn Castle In Vienna.

Almost exactly one year ago, I woke up on Christmas morning to arrive at at Schönbrunn Castle in Vienna for a tour of the castle and the chance to enjoy one last Christmas market. I’m still not quite sure how I made it there “alive”. I was tired (with only a few hours sleep), completely hung over and yet still at 10 AM I managed to stroll through the freezing cold weather with a cup of hot wine in hand. The best cure for a hangover is more to drink, right?

I think Christmas markets beside castles have become my favorite! I simply love castles in general, like the one in Soriano Nel Cimino or the one in Prague but a Christmas market beside a castle like the one in Berlin or this one in Vienna take the cake.

Aside from the beautiful and historic setting, there were loads of stalls with hand-crafted Christmas decorations.

Looks amazing, as do the other markets. We both did Christmas market tours this year. We should compare notes 😉

@Andrea – maybe we hit up some of the same ones! The ones in Vienna were the nicest of all the markets I visited but my favorite is still the cute little one in Bratislava.

Beautiful! I made it to 16 Christmas markets this year, but not to Vienna. It’s already on my list for next year.

@Laurel – I still can’t believe you made it to that many markets. Amazing! 🙂 Vienna is lovely … and has in my opinion, the most beautiful markets.
