A Very Berlin Moment On The Front Lawn Of The Berliner Dom.

People often ask me why I left behind my life in Canada to start fresh in Berlin. There’s plenty of reasons (you can read all about it in my full confessional) but big life decisions aside, sometimes it’s just the little things.

Like seeing the Berliner Dom for the first time and being more impressed by the beer drinking people sleeping away under the early afternoon sun than by the monument itself. Freshly broken out of the shackles of a corporate office job, the idea of spending a week day lying on a blanket outside, drinking beer and doing absolutely nothing was pure bliss.

If Berliners are good at anything, it’s having fun, relaxing and partying. Since arriving here, I’ve learned how to slow down and embrace the carefree nature of my new home. This is why I love Berlin! Can’t wait for summer which will mean evenings spent at beach bars, movies in the park and yes, lazy Sundays sleeping under the sun.

I love this – you perfectly encapsulate what makes the city so special. I’ve found it impossible to put into words, but this post does it quite nicely.
