My summer vacation in Berlin was everything I needed and more. I left feeling refreshed, inspired and quite certain about what I want my future to look like.
My only regret upon leaving was not being able to stay longer! Why, oh why hadn’t I booked that extra week?
When this excited about life, I tend to take more pictures. This is evident by the hundreds of photos on my phone, many of which were published on Instagram during my vacation and even afterwards (there were many “latergram’s“).
When planning my vacation to Berlin, I’d originally thought about going somewhere else for 3-4 days (like Istanbul or Budapest) but decided that I’d stick around “home“, do things around the city and take day trips instead.
With this in mind I returned to Szczecin and snapped this shot as my regional train was leaving the city.
Another day, I took one of those boat tours along the Spree. When the tour was over, I spent some time at the Lustgarten (which translates to Pleasure Garden) to gaze at the Berliner Dom and the Altes Museum.
Other days saw me doing more regular things like hanging out on my friend’s balcony or at cafes to write. Leaving my friend’s apartment one afternoon, I was struck by the simple beauty of this stained glass window.
This is Cafe Atopia in Prenzlauer Berg.
This is the Bastard Cafe in Kreuzberg. While I didn’t actually go there, I’m impressed with their name and stopped to take a picture of their sign.
This bleeding heart was nearby.
“Soon she said … ” is how I captioned this photo on Instagram. The street art can be found in Prenzlauer Berg, close to Sankt Oberholz where I met-up with a friend.
Another day took me to Volkspark Friedrichshain, my favorite park in Berlin and close to my former flat.
On my way to the park, I came across this cute display outside a clothing store on Hufelandstr.
One night, I went to meet with two good friends for dinner. I was late because I stopped to take these photos.
Unbelievably, there are more posts to come! There will be at least one more featuring general snapshots from around Berlin, one with photos from my boat tour and some about my day trip to Poland.
