When I lived in Berlin, I used to publish a monthly post of “my life in pictures.”
I’d feature my best Instagram photos from that month to show others what expat life in Berlin was like. I did silly things like attend ’90s dance parties, fashion shows, Occupy Wall Street protests and more.
While life in Berlin was exciting and fun, my life at home in Toronto couldn’t be any more different.
Frankly, it’s been boring. I work a fulltime job and spend 2 hours each way commuting. Most weekends, I’m exhausted. I sleep, grocery shop or clean the house. Nothing worth writing about on the blog.
Instagramming My October in Toronto
Recently, I started thinking that there are things I can do to make my life more exciting. And that my October wasn’t actually all that bad.
So with that in mind, I’m bringing the series back to life with my favourite Instagram photos from October in Toronto.
Missing an authentic Oktoberfest party in Germany, a friend and I opted to attend the Toronto Oktoberfest at Ontario Place. It was a great chance to drink German beer and eat some sauerkraut.
I got together with friends for a fun Thanksgiving dinner. We arrived at the restaurant just in time for sunset.
That same weekend, a friend and I met up for a little urban exploration. We found this colourful scene in an alleyway along College Street.
In not so fun news, I had to take a couple of days off of work for health reasons. I spent one morning at St. Michael’s Hospital. At least I had a nice view!
Oh Canada! I spent a day in Algonquin Park checking out the vestiges of fall and getting in some hiking.
A view from one of our two hikes that day.
Driving through one of the side roads in Algonquin Park,
Staring into the beautiful sunset. A glorious way to end the day!
Taking a taxi to an event one night in Toronto.
My view each and every morning as I make my way from Union Station to Mississauga … the start of the long commute.
