Travel Tips: Plan That Perfect Trip With Tripfocal

While there are many trip planning websites out there, there aren’t a lot of websites that contain the same amount of information as Tripfocal. Tripfocal offers a vast wealth of practical information, as told to you by other travellers, such as how to get to a destination (plane, train, boat, car etc.), where to sleep, where to eat, and what to do.

You can view itineraries provided by other travellers from around the globe who’ve already taken those trips, be it from those who took solo vacations, to families, couples, friends, and more. You’ll find full itineraries packed full of useful details and nothing like those typical top ten lists with silly tips like “stop and smell the flowers” or “look up at the tall buildings” – none of which are really helpful.

Their motto, “Real trips, by real people, with real advice” is something the founder Scott Green takes seriously and what inspired him and his co-founders to start Tripfocal in the first place. Leverage the expertise and experiences of fellow travellers to plan that perfect trip that suits you and whoever you may be travelling with – think about those dream trips to places like Venice, Bangkok, and or San Francisco

Tripfocal Features

One of the best things about the Tripfocal website is that it’s simple and straight forward to use. Now, let’s take a closer look at some of site’s most powerful features.

1) Registering

Signing up to the Tripfocal platform is not only easy, but quick. All you need to do is enter your name, email address, and a password.

2) Explore

This is where all of the fun starts. Browse other people’s trips and filter your search by destination, trip type, season, and budget. Upon entering your search criteria, matching trips will display. Click on any of the trips you’re interested in to view the full itinerary.

If you search for Berlin for example, you can see a trip I started to build about how to spend a luxurious weekend in Berlin.

Tripfocal - Berlin ItineraryIf you really like a trip, you can favourite it to view at a later date or even leave a comment to pose a question to or leave a compliment for the author of that trip.

You can also share the trip on social media – either Facebook or Twitter, or email the trip details to yourself or someone else you might be travelling with.

You can even book a hotel directly through their website using booking.com

3) Create a Trip

Once you’ve found all the inspiration you need to plan your trip or if you’ve already taken your trip, you can then create your own trip on the Tripfocal platform.

Start by adding in a trip name, trip type, season, and budget. You can even add an iconic image of the place you visited, like the Oberbaum Bridge in Berlin

In the next screen, begin by specifying the destination, how you got there, where you stayed, and what you did each day of your trip. Using Google Places, it’s easy to add hotels, cafes, and other attractions you visited. If you stayed in an Airbnb or used another vacation rental service like Homeaway, you can easily add them by specifying a custom location. If you travelled to multiple destinations, you can add them as well.

If you’re a first time Airbnb user, click here to receive โ‚ฌ25 off your very first stay!

When you’re finished, click publish and just like that, your trip is now live on the Tripfocal platform so others can enjoy part or all of your trip.

Good to Know

1) For the moment, there’s only a handful of users in the Tripfocal community and as such, a very limited amount of content. That’s why we need people like you to get involved and start adding in trip itineraries right away. The more people that join and share their trips, the better the platform will become.

2) As the product’s still in the beta phase, Tripfocal’s offering some great incentive to get travellers to add their trip information to the website.

  • If you add two trips on Tripfocal, you’ll receive a 10% discount for Triple.co which you can use to book different experiences around the world like photography tours or cooking classes.
  • If you add three or more trips on Tripfocal and book a hotel through their booking.com widget, Tripfocal will give back part of their commission of up to $25 US. Obviously, you have to take the trips in order to be receive the related financial compensation.
